Workshop Goals: 

  • Participants will gain an understanding of the core principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

  • Participants will be able to identify common psychological inflexibilities experienced by adolescents.

  • Participants will learn practical strategies for fostering psychological flexibility in adolescents.

  • Participants will develop a basic understanding of how to utilize mindfulness and values-based action in working with adolescents.

  • To equip participants with practical strategies for fostering psychological flexibility in adolescents within a school setting.

  • Describe common psychological inflexibilities experienced by adolescents.

  • Identify the key principles of ACT and their relevance to adolescent development.

  • Understand the theoretical underpinnings of mindfulness and its application to adolescents.

  • Utilize cognitive diffusion techniques to help adolescents cope with challenging thoughts and emotions.

  • Facilitate value clarification exercises with adolescents to identify and pursue meaningful goals.

  • Reflect on their experiences and identify areas for personal and professional growth in applying ACT principles.

  • Develop a "Psychological Flexibility Toolkit" containing practical strategies and resources for their work with adolescents.
